The total immerse method

A simple and fast method to treat cuttings with a solution is to totally immerse them for a few seconds in a pre-prepared Rhizopon-solution.

The total immers method

For your information we have added the spoken text to this page:

The Total Immerse Method is used to propagate plants from cuttings.

Take plant cuttings
Totally immerse the cuttings for a few seconds in a Rhizopon rooting hormone solution.
After treatment stick the cutting in media.
The method has many advantages.
The cuttings are rapidly and uniformly treated with the Rhizopon rooting solution.
Used for large or small production lots, the method uses minimum labour with basic skills.

The Method is easy to use

Use containers made of plastic, stainless steel, or aluminium with a protective coating.

Take cuttings from the stock plants
Make up a Rhizopon rooting hormone solution.

The solution contains rooting hormones that promote root formation

Put a few cuttings into a clean dipping basket to avoid breaking the cuttings and to allow good solution coverage

Dip the basket into a working solution tank containing the Rhizopon rooting solution.

Totally immerse the cuttings in the solution.
Allow the solution to cover the leaves and stems completely.
Leave the cuttings in the solution for about five seconds, but not less.

After treatment the cuttings are stuck in media.

When using the working solution on many production lots, only use the solution for about four hours.
The active ingredients may breakdown by bacteria dragged into the solution.
Continue production with a fresh solution.

For plants lots where there are a potential for cross contamination of pathogens between lots use the solution once.

Let us look inside the plant leaves and see how hormones
move in the plant.
This cross-section shows how the hormones in the
Rhizopon rooting solution enter the plant's vascular system
through the open stomata in the leaves.

The plant also produces natural rooting hormones in the leaves.
By polar mass flow, the Rhizopon and natural hormones move from the leaves to the basal end of the cuttings.
Depending upon the cutting condition, environment, and distance, transport may take six hours.

The rate of travel is not critical.
Once the hormones are in the vascular system
they travel to the basal end where they are stored.

The plant self regulates hormone use to induce root formation.

When the threshold hormones are reached at the basal end,
the potential root cells are programmed to become new root cells.

Total Immerse Method treats the cuttings uniformly
The threshold level is achieved.

Rhizopon treated cuttings form uniform roots around the base.

At our web site www.rhizopon.com
you can download the Rhizopon Rooting Guide

The guide lists plant varieties, the solution methods and the suggested number of tablets per litre of water.
Since cutting quality and growing conditions always differ, you should always do trials for each plant variety in your facility.
